June 11 will herald new requirements for Google Maps API keys. These keys are what allow you to display Google Maps on your site. Currently, we're able to utilise one key for all of our sites, however this new change will mean we now need an individual key for each site. You may have received an email from us regarding this, but what does it all mean?

Google's new changes now assign various pricing depending on your usage of the maps. This means the more users that visit your site and view your maps, the more you'll need to pay. However, if you have less than 100,000 views a month, you won't need to pay a thing. You can view the new pricing here, as well as find more information on the new changes.

So what do I need to do?

To generate your new API key all you'll need to do is head to https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/ and click 'Get Started'. From there you can follow the prompts, input your billing method, and receive your new key. Once you have your key send it to us and we'll do the rest. If you haven't generated a new key by June 11 2018 your Google Maps may cease to work on your website, so get in as soon as possible to prevent any problems.

If you have any questions on these new changes, or have difficulty setting up your new key, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or on (07) 5668 2543.
